Cell Block 7 were in Scotland from July 24 to August 6, 2002, and played at the "Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival".
The band was well received and had a wonderful time, also selling a goodly number of CDs.
As Fred Spitzer couldn't make the trip the wonderful Texan cornettist, Tommy Loy, played with the band in his place, on both cornet and double bell euphonium.
Tommy had a great time on the trip and commented several times that the trip was a life-long dream come true.
Although the other band members knew that Tommy was suffering from Pancreatic Cancer, they didn't know how sick he really was as he was in such good spirits throughout the trip.
It was a sad loss to both his family and the jazz world in general when he passed away on October 17 2002.
